Ahead of their most recent comeback with "Alcohol-Free" on the 9th of June, JYP Entertainment's TWICE went on to be featured on Jessi's popular show "Showterview With Jessi."

A recent controversy popped up after TWICE's appearance on Jessi's "Showterview With Jessi," which prompted the show's team to release a statement and explanation.

Aside from that, though, one of the talking points which were brought up in "Showterview With Jessi" was how leader Jihyo came to be.

Right at the beginning of "Showterview With Jessi," Jessi was doing her best trying to memorize the names of the nine members of TWICE. Amazingly, she was able to do it at lightning speed, memorizing all of TWICE members' names.

After a while, Jessi noted, "What I was wondering was, who is the leader?" To answer this, Jihyo took the initiative and raised her hand while introducing herself as the leader of TWICE. Right after Jihyo introduced herself, the members of TWICE shared how Jihyo got the position.

TWICE's Jihyo explained that being chosen as a leader was based on voting from the members of TWICE. To add to that, TWICE's Nayeon noted, "We always stick by the decision of the majority!"

Chiming in, the other MC of "Showterview With Jessi," Jo Jung Shik, jokingly asked, "Is it because Jihyo was popular? Or is it that she is reliable?"

Laughing at the joke, TWICE said that they chose Jihyo because she is very dependable. TWICE's Nayeon also explained that Jihyo had been a part of JYP Entertainment longer than anyone else.

After Nayeon shared this, Jo Jung Shik inquired, "As the eldest member [Nayeon], didn't you feel disappointed or something?"

Almost immediately, Nayeon answered, "Not at all," which showed how much TWICE trusted their decision.

To add to that, Jessi explained that not being the leader is a blessing in disguise. Jessi noted that sometimes a "Leader in the back" is a more stress-free position, to which Nayeon agreed.
