Stray Kids Will Headline Governors Ball Without Seungmin. His Ankle Fracture Is Confirmed.

JYP Entertainment announced Thursday that Stray Kids member Seungmin will not perform at the 2026 Governors Ball in New York on June 6. The group will take the stage as a seven-member lineup. The show is sold out.

The update resolves two months of uncertainty. In March, JYP disclosed that Seungmin had visited a hospital for pain in his left ankle and received an initial diagnosis of a suspected stress fracture. Thursday's statement confirmed the fracture, adding that Seungmin "is currently focusing on treatment and recovery while undergoing further detailed examinations regarding related symptoms and potential associated conditions." The agency explained he is "minimizing long-duration flights and travel in confined spaces" as part of his recovery protocol, making the transatlantic trip to New York medically inadvisable.

Stray Kids are one of three headliners at this year's Governors Ball, alongside Lorde and A$AP Rocky. The festival runs June 5-7 at Flushing Meadows-Corona Park. Stray Kids are scheduled for the second day. It will be their first Governors Ball appearance - and one of the larger US festival bookings for a K-pop act since BTS headlined Lollapalooza in 2022. Their most recent release, the EP Do It, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 in November - their eighth consecutive chart-topper on that ranking. A new album is expected this summer, though no release date has been announced.

Seungmin's injury is the second consecutive major scheduling disruption for a K-pop act at a US summer festival this season. LE SSERAFIM member Kim Chaewon is separately sitting out her group's promotional cycle for PUREFLOW Pt.1, released today, due to a neck injury. Both agencies have framed the absences as precautionary.

JYP's full statement noted: "We sincerely apologize to STAY who have been looking forward to the performance for this sudden news. We will continue to prioritize our artist's health above all else and do our utmost to ensure that he receives more proactive and professional treatment moving forward."

Stray Kids are also confirmed to headline Rock in Rio in September. JYP has not addressed Seungmin's availability for that event.
