MAMAMOO Fan Union Boycotting MAMAMOO’s Upcoming Virtual Concert, Here’s Why
As per previous reports, RBW Entertainment has gone on to announce that their K-pop girl group, MAMAMOO, is going to be having their very first virtual concert in more than 2 years. The MAMAMOO concert entitled WAW.
RBW Entertainment has gone on to release image teasers for MAMAMOO's online concert. Netizens would expect MooMoos (the fandom name of MAMAMOO) to support MAMAMOO but it seems as though not all fans are on the same page.
Following the announcement of MAMAMOO's online concert, RBW Entertainment went on to announce that they are going to merge MAMAMOO's official YouTube channel with the agency's.
This means that all MAMAMOO related releases such as official teasers, trailers, music videos, and other releases will now be directly uploaded on RBW Entertainment's YouTube channel, not MAMAMOOs.
The fans of MAMAMOO note this to be an unfair move as MAMAMOO would end up losing their subscribers and followers on YouTube. Notably, the difference between the MAMAMOO YouTube channel and RBW Entertainment's YouTube channel is quite large.
MAMAMOO currently has 6.03 million subscribers on their YouTube channel and RBW Entertainment's YouTube channel has only 111K subscribers. That is over 50 times the amount of subscribers MAMAMOO has.
Not long after RBW's announcement, the fan union of MAMAMOO went on to announce that they would be boycotting MAMAMOO's online concert that will occur on the 28th of August.
The reason being that of the merging of the YouTube channel of MAMAMOO and RBW. Another reason is the lack of promotions for MAMAMOO's concert. Notably, the teasers only got released on the day of the ticket sales, which was on the 17th of August.
As per the fan union of MAMAMOO, "Unlike the previous concerts, there is no teaser of this concert even one day before the ticket sales."
MAMAMOO's agency, RBW Entertainment, has not yet dropped an official statement regarding the matter.
