Former Leader Of GFRIEND, Sowon, Gearing Up To Join B.I In IOK Company
Previously in May, it was revealed that GFRIEND members Sowon, Yerin, Eunhs, Yuju, SinB, and Umji decided not to renew their contract with Source Music, opting to part ways with their former agency.
Following the report, Source Music went on to confirm the reports, even releasing an official statement.
Source Music went on to reveal that the members of GFRIEND have their exclusive contract with the agency expiring on the 22nd of May. The members have been having extensive negotiations with the agency, but ultimately, both have decided to go their separate ways.
Adding to this, Source Music expressed their heartfelt gratitude to GFRIEND, who has been under the agency for 6 strong and popular years. The agency thanked the girl group for trusting them in their career and also showed their gratitude towards BUDDYs, the fandom of GFRIEND.
Ahead of their disbandment, issues began sprouting regarding refunds of certain events that never pushed through and even controversies regarding bad blood between the agency and the former members of GFRIEND.
At present, the members of GFRIEND are making moves towards their solo careers and recently, their former leader has been in talks to sign with a popular agency.
As of writing this article, former leader of GFRIEND, Sowon is reportedly in talks to join IOK Company, the agency that is under Jo In Sung, and the same agency where B.I (former iKON leader) is the executive director.
As per reports coming from Newsen, Sowon is currently in talks with IOK Company on an exclusive contract. Although the K-pop idol has not yet signed the contract, a verbal agreement has been made.
At present, IOK Company is the agency that is home to actors such as Go Hyun Jung, Jo In Sung, Kim Ha Neul, and many more. Adding to their prestige, IOK Company has also gone on to acquire YNK Entertainment, taking actors Shin Hye Sun and Kim Hyun Joo under their wing.
