Dubbed as K-pop groups that debuted between 2011 to 2018, 3rd generation K-pop groups are reaching their peaks this year. But this does not mean that they have not dominated prior.

Here are the third generation K-pop girl groups alongside their song/s and their release dates who reached the number 1 spot on MelOn's Weekly chart:

JYP Entertainment's TWICE

JYP Entertainment's TWICE has the most number tracks that have reached #1 on MelOn's Weekly chart with 7 songs. TWICE made it to MelOn's Weekly chart for the first time with their track "Cheer Up" in the 2016 release.

TWICE's most recent song to make MelOn's Weekly chart is their 2018 release, "YES of YES." 

The second third-generation K-pop girl group that reached No. 1 on MelOn's Weekly chart is YG Entertainment's BLACKPINK with three songs. BLACKPINK first made MelOn's Weekly chart with their 2016 release, "WHISTLE." This was the same year TWICE also made it for the first time.

BLACKPINK's most recent song to reach MelOn's Weekly chart is their track "How You Like that," which was released in 2020.

The remaining third-generation K-pop girl groups are Red Velvet, MAMAMOO, GFRIEND, EXID, & I.O.I. 

The third generation of K-pop was truly iconic and will surely not be forgotten once most of them slowly divert away from the industry. In the meantime, third-generation K-pop groups will keep garnering laurels and awards and also keep placing on charts.
