4th-Generation Domination With ITZY, STAYC, & aespa, On MelOn’s Top 15 Chart
MelOn dropped the rankings for the last week of May this year for their top 15 chart on the 2nd of June. In MelOn's top 15, only three fourth-generation K-pop groups made the list. ITZY, aespa, and STAYC enter the ranks of icons in MelOn's top 15 chart for the last week of May.
When a K-pop artist enters MelOn's top 15 chart due to their tracks, this means that their domestic fame has further gone up. Due to three 4th-generation K-pop groups entering the list, this means that more Koreans or more fans in Korea are listening to more 4th-generation artists.
SM Entertainment's aespa made MelOn's top 15 chart with their song "Next Level." The last week of May, the 24th to the 30th, was a good week for aespa as their song climbed to the #6 spot. A week prior, aespa's "Next Level" was on the #10 spot.
In addition, SM Entertainment's aespa's "Next Level" is the highest ranked K-pop song from a fourth-generation K-pop group on MelOn's top 15 chart.
High Up Entertainment's STAYC's "ASAP" then followed suite as the took the #13 rank MelOn top 15 chart for the last week of this year's May.
Placing on the 15th spot on MelOn's top 15 chart is JYP Entertainment's ITZY with their recent hit title track, "Mafia in the Morning." ITZY's song went down three ranks as it previously held the 12th spot but it had stayed on MelOn's top 15 chart for over a week.
