The Village Barber 2 Premiere Date: Jisoo Joins Park Bo-gum
A new teaser for tvN's "The Village Barber 2" puts BLACKPINK's Jisoo behind the counter next to Park Bo-gum, and it comes with a premiere date: Nov. 29.
The variety show follows Park, who holds a barber's license, as he runs a salon in a small seaside village with his friends Lee Sang-yi and Ko Kyung-pyo. The teaser, reported by Soompi on Monday, introduces four one-day part-timers: Jisoo and actors Uhm Ji-won, Ahn Eun-jin and Heo Sung-tae.
Jisoo's appearance is the draw for international viewers. It is her first time meeting Park on a variety show, Soompi noted. In the teaser she smiles and mixes easily with the salon crew.
The format is simple. The regulars cut hair and run the shop, and a rotating set of one-day part-timers drops in to help. The four guests announced so far are a mix of a global pop star and three veteran actors, which fits a show built on easygoing conversation more than competition.
The other three arrive with history. Uhm Ji-won has said she is a fan of the first season and once called Park "a being from heaven," per Soompi, and now she works beside him in person. Ahn Eun-jin and Lee Sang-yi are classmates from the Korea National University of Arts and have been close friends for years. Heo Sung-tae previously worked with Park and Lee on the drama "Good Boy."
The first season ran on tvN from Jan. 30 and wrapped on April 3. It was set in the village of Muju, with Park, Lee and Kwak Dong-yeon as the trio, SBS Star reported. tvN confirmed a second season on April 6, and on July 13 said Ko Kyung-pyo would join as a new member. Season 2 moves to a seaside village, and an earlier teaser showed the three struggling with the local dialect. Park also comes back with more credentials. He did not pass his license exam on the first try in Season 1, Soompi noted, and Sports Khan reports he now holds both barber and hairdresser licenses. Korean outlets call the show "Bogum Magical." The timeline has been quick. tvN confirmed Season 2 three days after the Season 1 finale, and the premiere arrives nearly eight months after that finale aired.
Season 1 streams on Viki. None of the reports reviewed gives a time slot or an international platform for Season 2. The premiere is set for Nov. 29 on tvN.
