Is GFRIEND’s Yuju Signing With Kang Daniel’s KONNECT Entertainment?
In May, various South Korean news agencies reported that A-list girl group GFRIEND decided to part ways with their label Source Music after failed attempts for contract negotiations.
Since then, speculations regarding the bad blood between the girl group and their agency surfaced. Additionally, numerous mishaps happened after GFRIEND left Source Music. Particularly, fans slammed the agency over the issues regarding the refund policy for official Fanclub memberships.
Source Music has released their official statement regarding GFRIEND's disbandment as well as addressed the issues with their refund policy.
"Regarding the membership operation, some tasks related to the processing of personal details are given to Weverse, so it is thoroughly managed as a personal information processing consignor. It should have been supervised, thus we apologize for neglecting it," Source Music explained. The agency also shared that they cannot give cash refunds as it is impossible to cancel the consistent payments by credit card companies.
Recently, GFRIEND's leader Sowon became the second member to sign with a company after Yerin joined Sublime Artists Agency in June. As per reports, Sowon has signed with IOK Company not just as a musical artist but also as an actress. IOK Company welcomed Sowon with an official announcement. The agency also revealed that Sowon will be promoting using her real name Kim So Jung.
Following Sowon, GFRIEND's main vocalist Yuju is reportedly in talks to join Kang Daniel's KONNECT ENTERTAINMENT. According to reports, Yuju has met with representatives from KONNECT Entertainment to discuss an exclusive contract.
KONNECT Entertainment confirmed that indeed they have met with Yuju to discuss a potential partnership, however, nothing is set in stone yet.
"We are planning to expand the artist lineup, but nothing concrete has been decided," KONNECT Entertainment commented.
Meanwhile, there is still no news about the remaining GFRIEND members' future plans. Stay tuned for more updates!
