Surviving The 7-Year Curse: MAMAMOO’s Recent Comeback WIth ‘WAW’ Garners Domestic & International Success

After multiple rumors of disbanding, RBW's MAMAMOO was able to survive the 7-year curse of K-pop and even came out on top with their most recent comeback!

The 2nd of June was a special day for MooMoos as MAMAMOO released their eleventh mini-album dubbed "WAW," and with it the music video for their title track, "Where Are We Now."

MAMAMOO's latest title track begs the question "Where are we now?" to be answered. For the members of MAMAMOO, their song reveals their gratitude towards MooMoos (their fandom name), because through thick and thin, their fans have always stood beside the members.

MAMAMOO's mini-album "WAW" makes the members look back on the seven years of being together. This is MAMAMOO's first time to release an album that has all the songs featured as ballads.

As of writing this article, yesterday on the 3rd of June, "WAW" topped the iTunes charts in 21 regions worldwide. Specifically, MAMAMOO's new album ranked #1 on iTunes Top Album charts in the Philippines, Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, Chile, Malaysia, Turkey, and many more.

Moreover, MAMAMOO's "WAW" went on to be #1 on the Worldwide iTunes Top Album chart. This is the third time a MAMAMOO album has achieved this feat. The other 2 MAMAMOO albums being "Travel" and "Reality in Black."

To add to that, MAMAMOO is now in the company of BLACKPINK, LOONA, and Red Velvet, as the only K-pop girl groups to make their debut on the worldwide Top Album of iTunes chart three times on the #1 spot!

As of writing this article, on the 3rd of June, MAMAMOO's "WAW" is on the #1 spot on the iTunes Top 100 K-pop Albums chart. "WAW" has also gone on to rank 4th on the iTunes Top 100 Albums chart which is just the icing on the cake.

To further add to the success of MAMAMOO, all the tracks on "WAW" are on the worldwide iTunes Top Song chart. 

The tracks on "WAW" that are on iTune's Top Song chart are "Where Are We Now" which ranked at #10, "Another Day" ranking at #44, "Destiny Part.2" ranking at #49, and "A Memory of Life" at the #50 spot.
