GOT7 is a K-pop boy group that consists of 7 members. The members being Jay B, Mark, Jackson, Jinyoung, Youngjae, BamBam, and Yugyeom. The K-pop boy group made its debut on the 16th of January 2014, under the K-pop entertainment agency JYP Entertainment

Previously, JYP Entertainment confirmed that GOT7 would be departing from the agency. JYPE confirmed this by releasing a statement that the K-pop boy group will no longer be with them and that they will be officially leaving JYP Entertainment on the 19th of January, 2021.

This was followed right after their individual contracts expired.

Since then, the members have gone their separate ways. Jinyoung signed with BH Entertainment, Youngjae was able to sign an exclusive contract with Sublime Artist Agency, Jackson Wang decided to sign with his own company Team Wang, and Yugyeom went to AOMG.

Regardless, the group decided to stick together, promising that they will continue promoting as GOT7 while doing solo projects.

This was proven to be true as GOT7 released a solo track after their separation from their company. On the 20th of February, 2021, GOT7 dropped its very 1st single after leaving JYP Entertainment. The track was entitled "Encore," and as per the music video, it seems as though that GOT7 has signed under Warner Music Korea, but no specifics have been released.

Surely leaving a company you've been with for years is difficult to a certain degree. Recently, one of the members, GOT7's Mark, shared how he felt since parting ways with JYP Entertainment.

In a recent interview with The Associated Press that was uploaded on Twitter, Mark shared his thoughts on how difficult it was for him to work as an artist under a company.

GOT7's Mark said that there are a lot of restrictions in an agency, thus limiting the creativity an artist can express.

Mark explained this by saying that there is an image an artist has to live up to. It's really hard to express oneself and do what one wants to do. Just because an artist also has the agency or label telling them what they should and should not be doing.

The GOT7 member also went on to say that the environment he was previously in was suffocating for him. But now that he is no longer with JYP Entertainment, GOT7's Mark said that he now feels "super free."
