aespa’s Giselle Officially Apologizes For Accidentally Lip-Syncing A Racial Slur!
A previous behind-the-scenes video for the making of aespa's title song "Savage" has been changed to private by SM Entertainment after a fan criticized Giselle over a part of the clip that showed the aespa member lip-syncing a racially offensive word.
The clip shows aespa's Giselle, Karina, and Ningning listening and vibing to SZA's hit track "Love Galore" during a break in their supposedly chill photoshoot.
At a point in the song where the 'n-word' was used, netizens noticed that aespa's Giselle did not stop lip-syncing the song, even leaning forward when mouthing the word that is regarded as a racial slur.
The aespa behind-the-scenes video immediately went viral garnering more than 1.5 million views, causing netizens and fans to voice their opinion on why the video had been very upsetting.
MYs, the fandom name of aespa, went on to voice their disappointment with aespa's Giselle as she is a fluent English speaker and that she is most certainly aware of the word being a racial slur.
At the time, aespa's Giselle has not yet addressed the issue, but SM Entertainment has already heard fans' voices as they not only privated the behind-the-scenes video but also deleted their previous tweet on aespa's official account that linked to the video.
Just recently, Giselle released a statement as per aespa's Twitter account taking full responsibility and giving a sincere apology to fans and netizens who were hurt by her actions.
Giselle's apology is as follows:
"Hello, this is GISELLE.
I would like to apologize for mouthing the wrongful word from the lyrics of the song that was playing on-site. I had no intentions of doing it with any purpose and got carried away when one of my favorite artist's song was played. I sincerely apologize.
I will continue to learn and be more conscious of my actions."
