Netizens Upset As aespa’s Giselle Mouths Racial Slur In A Now-Private aespa Video!
After recent events, some netizens are upset at aespa's very own Giselle was seen mouthing a racial slur while singing a song.
Just recently, a behind-the-scenes video for the making of aespa's title song "Savage" has been privated by SM Entertainment soon after a fan voiced their opinion over a part that showed aespa's Giselle lip-syncing a racially offensive word.
The aforementioned clip shows aespa's Giselle, Karina, and Ningning listening to SZA's hit track "Love Galore" during a break in their supposedly chill photoshoot.
At a certain point in the lyrics of the song where the 'n-word' is used, netizens noticed that aespa's Giselle did not stop lip-syncing the song and even leaned forward when mouthing the word that is often regarded as a racial slur.
The aespa behind-the-scenes video quickly went viral and has gotten more than 1.5 million views, causing netizens and fans to voice their distaste on why the video had been very upsetting.
MYs, the fandom name of aespa, went on to voice their disappointment with aespa's Giselle as she is a fluent English speaker, going to an international school, and that is most certainly aware of the word being a racial slur. Thus, fans want to educate the K-pop idol on why her actions hurt multiple fans very deeply, most especially fans who are of African ethnicity.
aespa's Giselle has not yet addressed the issue, but SM Entertainment has already heard fans' voices as they not only privated the behind-the-scenes video but also deleted their previous tweet on aespa's official account that linked to the clip.
Neither SM Entertainment nor aespa's Giselle has released official statements regarding the current issue and fans are waiting for a direct apology from the aespa member.
