BLACKPINK's Jisoo partners with former One Direction star Zayn Malik for her first-ever feature collaboration

On October 10, 2025, BLACKPINK member Jisoo released "Eyes Closed," her debut collaboration single featuring Zayn Malik. The track dropped on all streaming platforms, with the music video premiering at 1 PM KST on Jisoo's official YouTube channel.

The Collaboration Details

Released through Blissoo (Jisoo's independent label) and Warner Records, "Eyes Closed" marks a historic crossover. This is Jisoo's first collaboration outside BLACKPINK and Zayn's first venture into K-pop.

The partnership unites two massive global fanbases. Zayn rose to fame with British boy band One Direction before launching a successful solo career that includes the Billboard Hot 100 chart-topper "Pillowtalk."

How It Started

The collaboration sparked speculation when Zayn attended BLACKPINK's New York concert on July 27, 2025, during their Deadline World Tour. He later posted appreciation for the show on Instagram.

Starting October 6, Jisoo teased the project with cryptic social media posts featuring a shadowed male figure. Captions like "A duet is near" and "two voices, one orbit" sent fans into detective mode. On October 8, she officially confirmed Zayn as her collaborator.

UnderWonder Content-the team behind Jungkook's "Standing Next to You" and Lady Gaga's "Disease"-directed the music video.

Jisoo's Eight-Month Gap

"Eyes Closed" arrives eight months after Jisoo's debut EP "Amortage" (February 14, 2025). That four-track project featured the title song "Earthquake," which topped Billboard's World Digital Songs chart and reached the top 50 on the Billboard Global 200.

The EP showcased Jisoo's artistic evolution. She co-wrote all four tracks-"Earthquake," "Your Love," "Tears," and "Hugs & Kisses"-with two songs recorded entirely in English.

BLACKPINK's Deadline World Tour

BLACKPINK launched the Deadline World Tour on July 5, 2025, at Goyang Stadium in South Korea. This marked their first full-group performance in nearly two years.

The tour opened with the premiere of their new single "Jump," which debuted at number one on Billboard's Global 200 and Global Excl. U.S. charts. The song also entered the Hot 100 at number 28, becoming BLACKPINK's 10th entry on the chart, though it did not chart for 10 consecutive weeks as some reports suggested.

The stadium tour continues through January 26, 2026, with the final show scheduled for Hong Kong. Upcoming stops include Taiwan, Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines, Singapore, and Japan.

Beyond Music

Jisoo has expanded into acting with two 2025 projects:

Newtopia - A Coupang Play series where she plays a lead role

Omniscient Reader: The Prophecy - A fantasy action film released July 23, 2025, alongside Lee Min-ho and Ahn Hyo-seop. The movie adapts the popular Korean web novel "Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint."

What Makes This Collaboration Significant

The pairing represents a rare East-West musical partnership at the highest level. Jisoo brings her distinctive husky vocals from the K-pop world, while Zayn contributes his R&B-influenced style cultivated through years of Western pop experience.

Fans coined the portmanteau "Zaynsoo" for the duo, which trended globally on social media upon the collaboration's announcement.

Where to Listen

"Eyes Closed" is available on all major streaming platforms including Spotify, Apple Music, and YouTube Music. The official music video can be found on Jisoo's YouTube channel.

This collaboration marks a milestone for both artists as they bridge K-pop and Western pop in what could set a new standard for international musical partnerships.
