2021 MelOn Year-End Chart Drops & IU Reached A Milestone Only BIGBANG Has Done Before!
As of writing this article, yesterday on the 25th of January, MelOn dropped their year-end chart for last year. The MelOn chart listed a total of 100 songs that were the most popular in 2021. Notably, among the K-pop idols that made the ranking are three solo songs from soloist IU.

IU's "Celebrity" ranked number 1 and is the K-pop idol's pre-release song for her fifth studio album "LILAC," which dropped on the 27th of January last year. The K-pop soloist wrote the lyrics for the track and also was a part of its composition.
Furthermore, IU's "LILAC" also entered the top 10 of the 2021 MelOn year-end chart, placing 6th and becoming the K-pop soloists second-highest entry and the second-highest entry overall from a K-pop soloist.
Additionally, IU finished MelOn's top 10 as her 2011 track "Hold My Hand" placed 10th. This song is IU's very first self-written and self-composed song and serves as the OST for "The Greatest Love."
Netizens and K-pop fans cheered since three of IU's songs made the 2021 MelOn year-end chart. Due to this, IU is now the first artist in six years since YG Entertainment's BIGBANG to have three tracks inside MelOn's top 10.

Beyond this, IU is also the artist with the most songs on MelOn's year-end chart, having 11 total songs in the "Top 100." Congratulations to IU for this amazing achievement!
