Would you risk your life to shoot your shot for ₩45.6 billion won (approximately $38 million)?
"Squid Game," one of Netflix's most popular shows that took the world by storm, has gone on to rank first place on Netflix's top 10 rankings for multiple straight weeks. Fans have enjoyed the thrill and drama the show brought and they have been begging for a second season.
Notably, reports have noted that "Squid Game" has recorded around 3 billion minutes in terms of watch time and it supposedly made Netflix almost $900 million (around ₩1.061 trillion) in value.
Furthermore, earlier in October, Netflix announced that 111 million Netflix subscribers globally had watched "Squid Game." So it was only natural for fans to demand a second season for the show.
As the production staff has already hinted at the possibility of a second season for "Squid Game," the show's director has recently expressed that he is planning a second season.
To add to this, on the 8th of November, Netflix's "Squid Game" held a promotional event in Los Angeles, USA.
In an interview with the Associated Press, the director and writer of "Squid Game" Hwang Dong Hyuk, has gone on to confirm that there would be a second season of the series, to the delight of viewers and fans.
"There's been a lot of demand and pressure and love for a second season," he said. "It almost feels like we don't have a choice. The next season is in my head right now. At this moment, I'm in the planning stages. It's too early to say when and how it will come out though. But I can promise this. The main character, Gi Hun, will be back and do something for the world."
As of writing this article, however, Netflix has not yet confirmed whether or not they will renew "Squid Game" for another season.
