Netizens Shocked As ‘My Roommate Is a Gumiho’ Actor Jang Ki Yong Announces Enlistment Date

One of the most popular K-dramas at present, tvN's "My Roommate Is a Gumiho," recently concluded to the sorrow of its viewers. One of the main actresses of the drama, Lee Hyeri, recently posted a vlog on her YouTube page, revealing how much the drama meant to her.

Following that, another update regarding Hyeri's "My Roommate Is a Gumiho" co-star, Jang Ki Yong, was revealed and fans were surprised. As per reports, Jang Ki Yong has confirmed that he is preparing to begin his mandatory military service very soon.

As of writing this article, today on the 26th of July, insiders from the industry reported that South Korean actor, Jang Ki Yong, will be enlisting in the army for his military service on the 23rd of August.

YG Entertainment, the agency representing Jang Ki Yong, has gone on to confirm the reports of the actor's enlistment. Here's what YG Entertainment announced:

"Hi. This is YG Entertainment.

Actor, Jang Ki Yong, will enlist as an active duty soldier on the 23rd of August after concluding filming for his drama 'Now, We Are Breaking Up.'

To stop the spread of COVID-19, the location and time of his enlistment will not be revealed.

This was an inevitable decision made for the safety of fans and reporters, so we ask for your understanding.

Please show support for Jang Ki Yong as he diligently completes his mandatory service and returns in good health.

Thank you."

Soon after Jang Ki Yong finished shooting for "My Roommate Is a Gumiho" with his co-star Hyeri, the South Korean actor began filming for his upcoming K-drama "Now, We Are Breaking Up" alongside Song Hye Kyo. 

Notably, Jang Ki Yong's upcoming drama is slated to be released within this year on SBS.
