Seo Ye Ji Wins Baeksang ‘TikTok Popularity Award’ Despite Absence
Despite the recent controversies involving Seo Ye Ji, the "It's Okay to Not Be Okay" star's popularity doesn't seem to falter.
On May 13th, the 57th Baeksang Arts Awards took place. It was held at KINTEX, Ilsan, Goyangsi, Gyeonggi-do and was broadcasted live in TikTok and JTBC4. The prestigious awards ceremony was attended by South Korea's top celebrities, directors, and entertainment industry insiders. Meanwhile, Suzy and Shin Dong Yeop graced the prestigious awards ceremony as MCs.
A day prior to the event, Seo Ye Ji's agency announced that the "Recalled" star has decided to skip the 57th Baeksang Arts Awards ceremony. According to reports, Seo Ye Ji decided not to attend the awards ceremony out of consideration to other winners and attendees. She believed the recent controversies involving her might overshadow and affect the prestigious ceremony negatively.
Regardless of her absence, Seo Ye Ji has still received the "TikTok Popularity Award" at the 57th Baeksang Arts Awards. On behalf of the "It's Okay to Not Be Okay" actress, MC Shin Dong Yeop accepted the trophy saying, "I will deliver the trophy to Seo Ye Ji well."
To win the "TikTok Popularity Star Awards," Seo Ye Ji bested 35 other nominees, including Shin Hae Sun, Kim So Hyun, Jung Soo Jung, Kim Seo Yeon, Kim Hyeon Soo, Jae Jae, Park Soi, Park Ju Hyun, Jang Do Youn, and many others.
Meanwhile, on May 14th, Seo Ye Ji's agency, Gold Medalist, congratulated the actress for winning the "TikTok Popularity Award" at the Baeksang Awards. The agency posted a picture of the actress to congratulate her on her achievement.
After the series of controversies that engulfed the actress, there are no updates regarding Seo Ye Ji's future endeavors. However, most recently, Seo Ye Ji confirmed dropping out of the fantasy drama "Island."
