Korean dramas are expected to shine brighter this year as more exciting TV series are set to premiere in the coming months. Here are five of the highly-anticipated Korean drama of 2019.

Asadal Chronicles

This star-studded K-drama is set to premiere in the first half of 2019. It is a reunion project for Descendants of The Sun stars Song Joong Ki and Kim Ji Won.

Set in the fictional ancient kingdom of Asadal, the historical period drama follows the romance between two cursed lovers as they navigate power struggles in the kingdom. Song and Kim will be playing the lead roles in Asadal Chronicles along with Suits actor Jang Dong Gun.

Vagabond

This spy thriller K-drama stars Lee Seung Gi, Bae Suzy, and Shin Sung Rok. Vagabond tells the story of stuntman Cha Dal Gun (Lee) who unexpectedly gets involved in a grand government conspiracy after he looks deeper into a mysterious plane crash that killed over 200 people, including his nephew. Suzy portrays the role of a national intelligence spy.

The action-packed TV series was partially filmed in Morocco and Portugal. SBS is set to release Vagabond this year.

Abyss

Korean actress Park Bo Young is set to make a TV comeback in the tvN's romance fantasy series Abyss. She will also reunite with her Strong Girl Bong Soon leading man, Park Hyun Sik.

Abyss follows the story of a beautiful female prosecutor and an average-looking man. A mysterious incident changes their lives when it alters their appearances and become an ordinary-looking woman and a very handsome man.

Park Bo Young will play the role of the female prosecutor while Park Hyun Sik is the average-looking-turned-handsome man. Abyss is slated to premiere in the first half of 2019.

Love Alarm

This Netflix romantic comedy series stars Kim So Hyun, Jung Ga Ram, and Song Gang. The story revolves around an unknown developer who releases an app that will notify the user if someone within 10 meters has romantic feelings for him.

High school student Jojo (Kim) gets tangled in a complicated love triangle with her two classmates because of the app. Love Alarm is set to air on tvN and Netflix this year.

He Is Psychometric Guy

Two K-pop idols will be leading this upcoming romantic Korean drama. GOT7 member Park Jin Young and Sistar's Shin Ye Eun will be portraying the lead roles in He Is Psychometric Guy.

The story revolves around Lee Ahn (Jin Young), who has the ability to read one's secrets with a touch. He decides to use his power to take bad people down. He meets a mysterious woman, Yoon Jae In (Shin), who tries to hide her secrets by pretending to live a perfect life. They will team up to solve cases.

He Is Psychometric Guy is slated to premiere on March 11 on tvN.
