Seventeen Seungkwan, Dino Enlist: Who Is Still Serving
Seungkwan and Dino of Seventeen began their military service on Monday, Oct. 26, enlisting together in the Army's military band, according to agency Pledis Entertainment. They are the last two of the group's 13 members to be conscripted.
Both will serve in the band after basic training, the Korea Herald reported. Pledis told fans in an August notice on Weverse that there would be no official event on enlistment day and asked them to stay away from the site, because other recruits and their families would be present. The agency added that once service begins the members cannot take part in Seventeen activities, but that content recorded in advance will keep reaching Carat, the fandom.
Of the other 11 members, one has finished and six are serving. Jeonghan was first, completing his service in June. Woozi, Hoshi and DK are in the Army, and Wonwoo, Vernon and Mingyu are social service agents. S.Coups was exempted after he severely ruptured ligaments in his left knee during filming in 2023. Joshua, Jun and The8 hold foreign citizenship.
A full 13-member return runs into 2028. Counting an 18-month term for the band, Gulf News put Seungkwan and Dino's return in late April 2028. Mingyu began a 21-month alternative service on Sept. 10, which Gulf News placed around June 2028, about two months after the band members come home. Those dates are the outlet's arithmetic, not figures from Pledis.
The enlistments land days before Seventeen's next stage. Jeonghan and Joshua released their first EP, "Dreamscape," on Oct. 19 and open their "Journey Into [Dreaming]" concerts at Inspire Arena in Incheon on Oct. 30, with shows through Nov. 1. The tour continues to Belluna Dome in Saitama, Japan, on Nov. 21 and 22, Galaxy Arena in Macau on Dec. 11 and 12, Taipei Arena on Jan. 9 and 10, Bexco in Busan on Jan. 30 and 31, and AsiaWorld-Arena in Hong Kong on Feb. 20 and 21, 2027.
The group has kept working at scale while the roster thins. Seventeen topped Pollstar's Asia touring chart this year with $97.4 million, the Korea Herald reported on Oct. 20.
For U.S. readers, South Korea requires able-bodied men to serve, the same requirement that sidelined BTS as a group until its album "Arirang," its first in three years and nine months, arrived in March.
The next Seventeen stage on the calendar is Jeonghan and Joshua's opener at Inspire Arena in Incheon on Oct. 30.
