This did not come long after reports of the Korean National Assembly were confirmed to be gathering to discuss a revision to the Military Service Act that would allow culturally impactful and popular artists of Korea to replace their military service with volunteer work instead.

Notably, most Korean men must enlist by the time they reach the age of 28, but BTS was previously granted permission to defer their enlistment until the age of 30 because the K-pop boy group was able to get a fifth grade Order of Cultural Merit called the Hwagwan Order of Culture.

Notably, BTS's ability to defer their military enlistment gives their older member Jin, the opportunity to defer his enlistment until he turns 30, which is in December of 2022. If Jin were not allowed to defer his enlistment, the K-pop star would have had no choice but to enlist in December 2021.

All the members of BTS have now applied for deferment, and this means that BTS can continue performing as seven members until BTS's Jin starts his military service in December of 2022, as per reports.

Furthermore, because all the members of BTS have applied to defer their military enlistment, each member will be able to perform with the K-pop boy group until they turn 30 where they have to begin their military service.
