As per recent reports, Disney executives are worried that making Marvel movies available on Disney's streaming service Disney+ may possibly harm the Marvel brand. This is coming from an insider report.

Recently, after almost a year of being delayed, "Black Widow" finally made its global release on the 9th of July, 2021. This was not exclusive to theaters only as the film was also available on Disney+ Premier Access program. Subscribers were able to buy the film at $30 (approximately 35k Korean Won).

"Black Widow" was able to garner the largest opening weekend since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. The movie was able to get a total of $80.4 million (92 billion Korean Won) in terms of ticket sales and $60 million (69 billion Korean Won) from Disney+ purchasers from subscribers.

Although this was the case, there was a 67% drop during its second week as it fell behind Lebron James' "Space Jam: A New Legacy." Currently, "Black Widow" is struggling at the box office and as of writing this article, the film is now the second lowest-grossing film in the MCU domestically.

"Black Widow" is only a little bit ahead of the 2008 film "The Incredible Hulk."

Following this, theater owners have had some strong words for Disney. For them, the decision to release "Black Widow" on Disney+ on the same day in theaters hurt both the movie and the theater industry.

Prior to this, "Black Widow" star Scarlett Johansson has gone on to file a lawsuit against Disney for allegedly violating her contract for "Black Widow" to be an exclusive theatrical release.

At present, Disney executives are worried that streaming is going to have a negative effect on Marvel Cinematic Universe films

Perhaps if Disney did not release "Black Widow" in Disney+ at the same time in theaters, the film would've been able to bounce back.
