"Banner Saga" for PS Vita has been saved by Sony, according to Destructoid.

Just a few weeks ago, it was reported that "Banner Saga" had issues of bringing the game to the consoles. Stoic technical director John Watson explained that there an unspecified developer was tasked to port the game to the consoles, but it folded suddenly.

This left the Stoic team, the game developers, with an issue of expenses for development. It was saved when a replacement developer was found right away and the console versions of the game will be released this coming January. The PS Vita version, meanwhile was put on hold due to the lack of finances.

"I have been excited about the Vita port since day one, and I would love to see the Banner Saga running on my own Vita," said Watson. "The realities, however, of a very small team and a limited budget, put an immutable check on the speed of our progress."

Sony has sort of given up on first-party support for the Vita and it seems indie games will be the main games to be ported to the handheld console, according to Engadget. It came as a surprise that when the Stoic team announced that "Banner Saga's" PS Vita port will be put "on the back burner" for now, Sony took notice.

Sony and Versus Evil are now partners in helping out Stoic to finish the Vita port. Game sites speculate that these two companies will support the costs of the game and will gain some profits from it when it is released.

Sony's Gio Corsi announced this great news on his personal Twitter account.

"Banner Saga's" PS Vita version still has no release date announced, but there will be more details revealed next year, according to Gamespot. There are also no details on how much involvement will Sony have on the port. Some game sites are attempting to contact the company to find out. The game will be coming to the Xbox One and PS4 consoles soon.
