BTS Multiple MTV VMAs Nominations & TWICE, BLACKPINK, SEVENTEEN, (G)I-DLE, & More Nominated For Best K-Pop
At last, after waiting for what seems like a long time, the 2021 MTV Video Music Awards has finally dropped their list for this year's nominees and voting is still ongoing!
As of writing this article, yesterday on the 11th of August, MTV officially announced most of their nominations for their upcoming and highly-anticipated award ceremony, the MTV VMAs.
Adding to this, other nominations for categories that are social, which include Best Group and Song of the Summer, will duly be revealed on a coming date. However, for nominations such as 2021's Best K-Pop, the list is already here and it is quite exhilarating.
Notably, (G)I-DLE with "DUMDi DUMDi," BLACKPINK and Selena Gomez with "Ice Cream," BTS with "Butter," MONSTA X with "Gambler," SEVENTEEN with "Ready to Love," and TWICE with "Alcohol-Free" are all set to be amongst the nominated in the category.
But HYBE Label's BTS seems to be gearing up to possibly have a huge haul as the K-pop boy group has been nominated in a handful of categories!
BTS has been nominated in five different categories. This makes BTS the group with the most nominations for 2021's MTV VMAs. Aside from Best K-Pop, BTS is also nominated for Song of the Year with "Dynamite", Best Pop, Best Choreography, and Best Editing with"Butter."
Previously in 2020's MTV VMAs, BTS took the W with the categories Best Group, Best Pop, Best Choreography, and Best K-Pop. This did not come as a surprise as ARMYs (the fandom name of BTS) are one of the most supportive in the K-pop industry.
This year's MTV VMAs will be broadcasted live from New York's Barclays Center on the 12th of September at 8 PM Easter Time!
