Red Velvet’s Joy Shares About How Awkward She Felt Going Into K-Pop

SM Entertainment's Red Velvet is known to have one of the most powerful vocals and most tantalizing visuals in the K-pop industry. Previously, before Yeri became a part of the girl group, Red Velvet had four members, making Joy their maknae. 

Also known as "Sexy Dynamite," Red Velvet's Joy recently had an interview, and in the interview, she discussed how she felt with the transition.

Uploaded on the 12th of March, Red Velvet's Joy had an interview with W Korea. In the interview, she spoke up on multiple personal facts, but one of the most outstanding topics was Red Velvet's Joy status in her family and after becoming the initial maknae of Red Velvet.

Red Velvet's Joy is the eldest in her family, and turning into the youngest, aka the maknae, of Red Velvet really made her adjust to the situation.

As per Red Velvet's kkyeopjoy, she found the whole thing plainly awkward. She was able to convey this by sharing, "Actually, going from being the oldest in my family to suddenly being the youngest in the group was really awkward."

Red Velvet's Joy went on to say that since she has always been the eldest at home, she did not know how to act towards her older group members. This means that initially, Joy had trouble fitting into the generically cute maknae position.

Red Velvet's Joy further shared how she felt by saying that she did not know how to act around the other Red Velvet members. She has been used to always taking care of people and doing things independently, and now that she was a maknae, she did not know what to do.

Moreover, Red Velvet's Joy said that even though she found the adjustment awkward, she and her older group members now have a very unique bond.

Now that Yeri is in the picture, Red Velvet's Joy is no longer the maknae, but she still has three other members that are older than her. Maknae or not, Red Velvet is a very close-knit K-pop group that seems always to make sure that everyone is comfortable.
