BTS, BLACKPINK Or TWICE, Who Is The Most Popular K-Pop Idol Group In Korea Right Now
From December 23, 2020, to January 23, 2021, the Korea Business Research Institute gathered 163,832,057 worth of index data to analyze and determine the most famous K-Pop idol groups for the first month of 2021.
The brand reputation index of the current active idol groups is the reflection of consumer online behavior that has a great influence on brand consumption. It measures the media and consumer interest surrounding the idol group.
For the month of January, the Korea Business Research Institute saw a 13.78% increase in data, which signifies the increased consumer engagement towards idol groups.
Of the top five idol groups, four were girl groups, and there is only one boy group.
Meanwhile, JYP Entertainment's TWICE saw a 62.94% increase in their brand index for the month of January 2021. The nine stunning ladies ranked third with a total brand reputation index of 9,248,874.
Jennie, Lisa, Jisoo and Rose of BLACKPINK garnered a participation index 451,704 media index 1,707,215 communication index 4,780,132 community index 4,926,552. In total, their overall brand reputation index is 11,865,603. With a staggering 41.23% increase compared to their December's index, the girls of BLACKPINK ranked second overall.
Finally, there's no surprise that the seven legendary boys from Big Hit Entertainment placed first in the ranking. BTS' RM, Suga, Jin, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook brand was analyzed to have a reputation index of 15,664,084. Although their index fell by 17.44%, BTS remains as the undisputable top K-Pop idol group today.
