'Game of Thrones' Season 8 Predictions & Spoilers: Nikolaj Coster-Waldau Hints At 'Season 9,' Jaime, Jon Snow's Meeting & Possible Romance With Brienne Of Tarth
A lot is about to happen in Game of Thrones Season 8 — thanks to Nikolaj Coster-Waldau's revelations. In different interviews at the Cannes Film Festival in France, the 47-year-old star spilled a lot of beans about Jaime Lannister's future and the critically-acclaimed TV series ending.
Nikolaj Coster-Waldau revealed that he was surprised to read the Game of Thrones Season 8's scripts and in awe that HBO successfully "pulled it off." For the Danish actor, they ended the season "in the right way," and the show based on George R.R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire concluded on its "own terms." "It's one story from season 1 to 9 and it makes sense," he said, via Winter is Coming.
However, as Nikolaj Coster-Waldau mentioned "Season 9," will there be a new installment to the series after the upcoming season finale? According to Winter is Coming, Game of Thrones only has eight seasons; thus, the Gods of Egypt actor might just be overwhelmed by Game of Thrones Season 8's ending and got confused.
In fact, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau revealed that there could be a scene between Jamie and Jon Snow (Kit Harington) in Game of Thrones Season 8. "Surely, at one point we're gonna meet again," he revealed. As Jaime is on his way to the North, fans have to wait and see if he will make it up there and meet the Starks once again. "You never know," he teased.
Nikolaj Coster-Waldau also talked about Jaime's decision to leave his sister/lover Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey), via GoldDerby. For the first time, the Kingslayer acted against the Queen of the Seven Kingdoms' wishes. Finally, he realized that she is just using him and it "broke" his heart. So, will this give Jaime and Brienne of Tarth (Gwendoline Christie) a chance to be together in Game of Thrones Season 8?
A lot of fans are shipping for Brienne and Jaime. Now that he finally left his sister/lover, will there be a thing between the two? "She's great!" Nikolaj Coster-Waldau said about Gwendoline Christie's character. Although he didn't confirm there will be a romance between them in Game of Thrones Season 8, the actor said that he is more romantic than the showrunners Dan Weiss and David Benioff.
However, this could not be the end of Jaime and Cersei's romance. Nikolaj Coster-Waldau admitted that Jaime "has built his identity" around Cersei. So, he will have a hard time to just cut things off between them. Although he left her in the previous season finale, it is not yet revealed if he is already decided to let her go. "Is this real? Does he mean it? Who knows?" the actor hinted. Game of Thrones Season 8 is set to be released in 2019 on HBO.
