A significant question was finally answered in The Blacklist Season 5 finale, but Elizabeth Keen's discovery also led to an even bigger mystery. In "Sutton Ross," it was revealed that the bones in the bag belonged to the real Raymond Reddington and that the man that Liz has been dealing with is an imposter. So is it possible that there is only one other important character who knows the identity of James Spader's character in The Blacklist Season 6? There are speculations that Katarina Rostova will return to shed some light on the new mystery in the NBC series.

Katarina Rostova has been one of the most mysterious characters in The Blacklist. Although it was initially believed that Lotte Verbeek's character is the owner of the bones in the bag, there has been no real evidence that Katarina is dead. The recent revelations about the real Raymond Reddington indeed reaffirm Katarina's importance in The Blacklist Season 6. But how exactly will Liz Keen's mother return when the series resumes in 2019?

There are several theories involving the identity of Fake Red in The Blacklist Season 6, from being the identical twin of the real Raymond Reddington to James Spader playing Liz Keen's mother in the NBC show. One particular theory suggests that Not Red is Katarina Rostova who has undergone a sex change. Although the latter is highly unlikely, Katarina could still play an important role as she might be the only living person who knows the truth about the imposter. Unfortunately, NBC has not yet confirmed whether Lotte Verbeek will reprise her role as the former KGB spy in the upcoming season.

The return of Katarina Rostova could be an exciting move for The Blacklist Season 6, but Liz Keen's mother is not the only one who could blow Fake Red's cover. There is a possibility that Megan Boone's character will look into Naomi Hyland's death and discover the truth on her own.

Fans will need to wait a little longer before finding out if Katarina Rostova is set for a significant comeback. The Blacklist Season 6 air date will not be set for fall 2018 and could be moved to early 2019 instead.
