U.S Toyota Recalls 228,000 Tacomas And Gives Free Service of Vehicle Inspection To Fix Issues
The oil leak in the rear differential that occurred for nearly 228,000 owners of 2016 and 2017 model year Toyota Tacomas, has prompted the company to issue a recall. The oil leak can cause damage to the differential, causing "reduced propulsion" according to a press release. In some cases, the rear differential may completely seize up, which will lead to no propulsion at all. It's important to check the vehicle under this recall.
Toyota will be sending recall notices to owners beginning from mid-June. In this case of any recall, there will be no cost to the owner for the check-up and any repairs required. Further, Toyota will conduct an inspection of trucks for oil leaks in the rear differential. If none are found, everything will be tightened and will be sent to owners. But if a leak is identified, Toyota will carry out necessary repairs as required from a gasket replacement up to throwing on a new rear differential carrier assembly depending on the volume of the problem. The Japanese car manufacturer stated that the mid-size pickup could result in noise and reduced propulsion. Further, the company noted that there some instances when the vehicle could seize resulting in increased risk of a crash due to the possible loss control of the vehicle. IBtimes reported. Vehicles would be checked for oil leakage and parts replacement would be made if necessary. The company would also tighten the fasteners to prevent damages. Customers would be notified about eligibility for free repairs and the details of affected cars as scheduled in mid-June.
In March, Tokyo Toyota has recalled vehicles due to faulty airbag inflators and the total number of recalled vehicles were 2.9 million including 750,000 vehicles in Japan. Vehicles coming from other countries were included - China 650,000 vehicles, Europe 350,000 vehicles, Oceania, Central and South America 1.16 million vehicles.
