ReVeluvs Demand SM Entertainment To Treat Red Velvet Better As #TreatRedVelvetBetter & #WhereIsRedVelvet Trend Online!
Earlier this week, #TreatRedVelvetBetter and #WhereIsRedVelvet trended online. A lot of fans voiced their dismay about SM Entertainment's lack of group activities for Red Velvet.
Fans noted that when Red Velvet promoted "Queendom," the girls only promoted for two weeks. Even in those two weeks, fans said that they did not get enough Red Velvet content to cover up the almost two-year hiatus of Red Velvet.
Furthermore, fans expressed that the only appearances Red Velvet had for their comeback were on "Seulgi.zip" and their quick reality show "Queendom Restaurant." Red Velvet did not appear on other shows, nor were they on "Dingo Live," "Studio Choom," or Mnet's "Relay Dance."
Complaints also revolved around the fact that SM Entertainment did not produce original content for Red Velvet, like music video reactions or dance practice videos.
Fans have raised the question of how Red Velvet is not getting the same opportunities compared to their other labelmates. ReVeluvs understand that the members of Red Velvet are focusing on their solo careers but pointed out SM Entertainment can still have group activities.
Additionally, Red Velvet is not still signed to a U.S. company for their activities in the United States, while aespa, who only made their debut back in November of last year, is already signed with Creative Artist Agency for their U.S. schedules and fans think this is unfair.
Thousands of Red Velvet fans have now set up a petition on Change.Org demanding SM Entertainment to sign Red Velvet with a U.S. label for the activities in the country.
As of writing this article, the petition has gotten 3,450 signatures and it has a current goal of 5000 signatures. Furthermore, Red Velvet fans are asking SM Entertainment to let Red Velvet drop another studio album before 2021 ends.
They also want SM Entertainment to have Red Velvet attend this year's Mnet Asian Music Awards also known as MAMA, the Seoul Music Awards also known as the SMAs, the Melon Music Awards also known as MMAs, and the three yearly Gayo music festivals.
