2021 MAMAs: Everything You Need To Know About This Year’s Mnet Asian Music Awards

Today on the 8th of September, it has been reported that the 2021 MAMA (Mnet Asian Music Awards) will be held in Korea once again amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.
More specifically, the 2020 MAMA will happen at CJ ENM's Contents World. Notably, the venue is in Paju City in Gyeonggi province.
Moreover, the venue is supposedly as large as 32 soccer fields. This is the same place where the 2020 MAMA also took place. Furthermore, as per the reports, an insider from CJ ENM confirmed that 2021 MAMA will happen at the CJ ENM's Contents Studio on the 11th of December.
Adding to this, since 2010, the MAMAs often occur in places outside Korea. During the years that spanned from 2012 to 2015, the MAMAs took place in Hong Kong. In 2017 and 2018, it was then held in three countries outside of Korea which still included Hong Kong.
In 2019 however, the MAMAs Hong Kong due to the protests going on at the time.
"Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the music industry as well as society as a whole is in a slump. It would be great if 2021 MAMA blows new vitality into the music industry by being held in K-pop's country of origin Korea while also giving hope and courage through K-pop to the people who have become worn out," Kim Hyun Soo, CJ ENM's director of music content revealed.
Unfortunately, last year's MAMA was held online on account of the pandemic. This was expected as COVID-19 was raging all throughout the world.
Since the event will occur in December, the heads of the MAMAs will keep taking into consideration the considerations that might occur due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Government regulations will also be strictly followed, if all things go well, an offline activity might still be on the table. But currently, the safety of fans, artists, and staff is the top priority.
