Google Login Page Password Not Needed Anymore? Tests Underway!
Google is planning to eliminate the password login to the page, according to Information Week.
The company is trying to experiment with a password-free login method. There will be a new feature that can let users to enter his or her account with a smartphone and will skip the password method. Some people have deemed the password method to be less-secure these days.
The process works as a user will begin to login on the PC, but will be notified that it will need authorization through the smartphone. Google promises that this will be a more secure method to access Google accounts without using two-factor authentication, according to ABC 10 News.
In addition, Google helps protect its customers from scammers that try to trick users into inputting their passwords in login windows that might be a scam by eliminating the password process. Lazy customers will also be protected with this method because they only use a short and easy password to memorize.
"We've invited a small group of users to help test a new way to sign in to their Google accounts, no password required," said a Google official. "'Pizza', 'password' and '123456' - your days are numbered."
The current test of the new feature that allows Google to eliminate password login to their page is running on both Apple and Google's operating systems, according to The Hill. The White House is also trying to wipe out the password so that they can protect sensitive digital data. They are trying to eliminate it as the primary security code and are funding its own efforts.
Google's plan of eliminating password login to their page is similar to the Account Key method that was launched by Yahoo last October this year, according to CIO-Today. The app is available on iOS or Android devices. It is a mobile Mail app which is "more secure than a traditional password."
