‘Super Smash Bros.’ Mod ‘Project M’ Ends Production; Cause Determined!
"Super Smash Bros." fan-made mod, "Project M," will be ceasing its development today, according to iDigitalTimes.
The fan-made mod, "Project M," has been in development for six years already. The development team members were fine tuning and turning the game into a better version of the melee game it was. The team also added fan favorites and made updates for the game until the next "Super Smash Bros." game finally came out in the Wii U.
The developers of the "Super Smash Bros." mod, "Project M," have revealed that they decided to stop development after the recent release of version 3.6, according to Gameranx. The reason why they stopped development is simply because they do not want to keep working on the game dragging on. The development team will be disbanded, but the members are working on other original projects.
Fans were asked to talk to their attorney for any other questions about the mod. They asked if the group was forced to stop due to legal action. The tweet below is the answer of Mr. Ryan Morrison, the team's attorney.
To clarify: We weren't contacted, issued a C&D, threatened or had legal action taken against us in any way, but we want it to stay that way.

The team also had an official statement on their website. The message replaced the mod's download links.
"It's been an excruciating call to make, but it's been made a bit easier by our satisfaction with the previous and final release, v3.6," read the message.
"We've spent six years polishing Project M, and rather than let it drag on through another several years of dwindling development and change-fatigue in the competitive circle, we're going to consider our work complete," continued the message from the developers.
Even though the "Super Smash Bros." mod "Project M" has been discontinued, the current form of it should still be playable, according to Engadget.
