With Johnny Depp winning a defamation lawsuit against his ex-wife Amber Heard, both sides have expressed their opinions.

A jury in Fairfax County, Virginia, has unanimously ruled that Amber Heard had defamed Johnny Depp.

Accordingly, the court ordered Amber Heard to pay $15 million (approximately 18.7 billion won) in damages, and in a countersuit filed by Heard, the court ordered Depp to pay $2 million (about 2.4 billion won) in compensation.

The jury found Amber Heard failed to prove her allegation of abuse by Johnny Depp in the trial and said that the "Aquaman" actress wrote the essay two years ago to discredit Johnny Depp's reputation even though she knew it was false.

In the case of Depp, on the other hand, the jury pointed out that, through a statement by his lawyer, the actor had defamed Amber Heard by claiming she was a liar.

The two married in 2015 and went their separate ways after filing for divorce in 2016.

Johnny Depp filed a defamation lawsuit against the British tabloid The Sun for calling him a "domestic violence perpetrator," but he lost. As a result of this, he was dropped from the "Harry Potter" spin-off series "Fantastic Beasts and the Secrets of Dumbledore."

Despite winning the lawsuit, Depp's return to blockbuster-level works in the future is not certain.

After his victory, Depp wrote on Instagram, "It's been 6 years, and the jury has brought my life back. I'm very happy."

On the other hand, Amber Heard said, "The disappointment I feel today is beyond words. I'm heartbroken that the mountain of evidence still was not enough to stand up to the disproportionate power, influence, and sway of my ex-husband."
