Lay Announces That He Has Parted Ways With SM Entertainment On EXO’s 10th Anniversary!

To the surprise of netizens and K-pop fans, EXO's Lay has officially made an announcement regarding his status with SM Entertainment.
As per the EXO member, Lay has now parted ways with SM Entertainment, announcing this via a hand-written letter posted on his personal Instagram account addressed to netizens and K-pop fans.

Notably, in a special letter addressed to EXO-Ls (the fandom name of EXO) around the globe, EXO's Lay announced in English that he has departed from the big 3 K-pop agency SM Entertainment, explaining that for him, it is time to say goodbye as an employee of SM.
Adding to this, EXO's Lay captioned his post that this decade is one of the greatest gifts he could have ever received. Check out Lay's Instagram update here:
Although Lay has stated that he has left SM Entertainment, the K-pop idol still expressed that he will also be available whenever his K-pop group EXO calls on him for promotions and other related activities.

Lay has been with EXO since their debut in April of 2012 and this means that the K-pop idol has parted ways with SM Entertainment after being with EXO for 10 years exactly. This could either be a coincidence or perhaps Lay waited until EXO's 10th debut anniversary to leave SM.
As of writing this article, neither SM Entertainment nor the other members of EXO have released an official statement regarding Lay's departure from the K-pop agency.
