K-pop star Jessica Jung, a former member of SM Entertainment's Girls Generation (SNSD), has just recently responded to the backlash she has been facing for going on a Chinese idol survival program as a contestant.
On the 3rd of April, Jessica Jung was notably in the middle of controversy which all began from a photo that spread online on Weibo, a Chinese app. The supposed photo was alleged to be the contestants of the Chinese audition show, and among the contestants was Jessica Jung.
Notably, Jessica Jung's controversy all began with the K-pop artist being labeled as Chinese-Korean on the card. Adding to this, it is also written on the photo that she is a member of the K-pop girl group Girls' Generation, also known as SNSD.

As per recent reports, Coridel Entertainment, Jessica Jung's label, dropped a statement announcing, "Although it is true that Jessica is on a Chinese audition program, we are verifying if the rumors about her being labeled as a Chinese-Korean by producers."
Jessica Jung's label also added that because she has parted ways with Girls' Generation, the K-pop idol no longer uses the K-pop girl group's name when she does promotions. Coridel Entertainment also notes that they believe that the photo that caused the controversy was fake.
Jessica Jung has not directly commented on the controversial photo.
