Song Joong Ki, Lee Seung Gi, Kim Seon Ho, & More: 2021’s Top Male K-Drama Performances!

2021 was an amazing year for K-dramas, and notably, there were some actors and actresses who stood out due to their amazing performances. Some actors played their roles so well, K-drama fans are looking forward to what they have to offer this 2022.

In no particular order, here are male K-drama actors who had outstanding performances in 2021:

Song Joong Ki in "Vincenzo"

tvN's "Vincenzo" was both dark and funny as viewers saw Song Joong Ki's duality, being both violent and caring as Vincenzo. Song Joong Ki portrayed Vincenzo so well that viewers were actually interested in a second season of "Vincenzo."

Lee Seung Gi in "Mouse"

Lee Seung Gi's performance in "Mouse" further elevated the K-drama to a higher level as it was both unpredictable and suspenseful. Furthermore, the duality of Lee Seung Gi stood out as his performance with the two-faced character Jung Ba Reum was truly appealing to the public.

Lee Junho in "The Red Sleeve"

2PM's Lee Junho broke boundaries in his role as crown prince Yi San in "The Red Sleeve." The K-drama is his first series after being discharged from the military, and fans were incredibly impressed as Junho went on another level.

Kim Seon Ho in "Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha"

Kim Seon Ho's Hong Doo Shik in the K-drama "Hometown Cha Cha Cha" was able to make viewers fall in love with him due to his charm. Fans are really hoping that they get to see more of Kim Seon Ho in future projects.

Lee Je Hoon in "Taxi Driver" and "Move To Heaven"

The previous year was an amazing year for Lee Je Hoon as in 2021, not only did he keep fans at the edge of their seats in the action-packed K-drama "Taxi Driver," he also made fans melt with his role in the K-drama "Move to Heaven." 

Koo Kyo Hwan in "D.P."

Koo Kyo Hwan, with his role in the K-drama "D.P.," made fans marvel at his skills as an actor as he played a charismatic member of the Deserter Pursuit squad. The character of Koo Kyo Hwan was confident and outgoing, although the actor is known to be an introvert.

Lee Jung Jae in "Squid Game"

Already a regular name in Korean households, Lee Jung Jae propelled to global superstardom due to Netflix's K-drama "Squid Game." Lee Jung Jae did so well, he was able to get the Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series - Drama nomination in the 79th Golden Globes.

Lee Do Hyun in "Youth of May"

Further adding to his acclaim, Lee Do Hyun proved that he is an actor to watch out for due to his role in the K-drama, "Youth of May" as Hwang Hee Tae. His performance was so good, the actor won the Top Excellence Award at the 2021 KBS Drama Awards.

Namgoong Min in "The Veil"

Namgoong Min showed his dedication as an actor in the K-drama "The Veil," as he seriously trained to get into the best shape of his life for the drama. Namgoong Min's hard work paid off as he took home the Grand Prize (Daesang) at the 2021 MBC Drama Awards.
