TWICE Surprised: The JYP Whisper Was Not Supposed To Be In TWICE’s ‘Alcohol-Free’
It seems as though J.Y. Park's iconic whisper was not supposed to be part of TWICE's "Alcohol-Free." How did the members of TWICE react?
Not long ago, JYP Entertainment's TWICE released their comeback with the title track"Alcohol-Free" which was obviously written by Park Jin Young due to the iconic "JYP" whisper at the beginning of the song.
To continue with promotions, TWICE recently went on SBS's "SBS Power FM's Choi Junghwa Power Time." In the radio show, the members of TWICE talked about their recent comeback, and surprisingly, they went on to reveal how J.Y. Park's whisper was not planned.
In the show, TWICE answered questions from listeners that were read aloud. Among a plethora of questions, one stood out:
"After a long time, Park Jin Young's 'JYP~' narration was included in the song "Alcohol-Free". Is there any reason for including it in this song?"
Initially, TWICE were discussing their answers, but Jeongyeon went on to give her opinion by saying that Park Jin Young simply wanted to flex, to the surprise and delight of the other fans.
"Doesn't he just want to show off? Like, 'It's my song,'" TWICE's Jeongyeon hilariously blurted.
Laughing as well, TWICE's Mina quickly gave her thoughts by sharing that initially, the patented J.Y. Park whisper was supposed to be not part of TWICE's song.
"But until we recorded the song this time, the whisper was not there. There was no 'JYP~'. When the version before the final song came out, suddenly...'JYP~"; it came like this.
So we said, 'Oh, this is included in the song.' We said this amongst each other," TWICE's Mina shared.
Following their responses, the host of "SBS Power FM's Choi Junghwa Power Time" asked TWICE if they'd prefer the whisper to stay or to be taken out. Like a true leader, Jihyo stepped up and answered the questions by saying that it would just make things awkward.
Jihyo's response prompted another round of laughter.
Regardless, with or without the iconic J.Y. Park whisper, TWICE's "Alcohol-Free" is still a banger.
