Here’s Why BLACKPINK Is Dubbed As One Of The World’s Most Influential Women
Since 2016, YG Entertainment's BLACKPINK has been breaking records, getting awards, and garnering success. The quartet of Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé, and Lisa have made strides not just in the South Korean K-pop industry, but throughout the world, both in Asia and in the West.
May it be a group project or individual promos, BLACKPINK members have been rising through the ranks of celebrities. Currently in 2021, BLACKPINK is now one of the most popular K-pop groups in the world. Thus, with popularity comes a lot of influence.
So it is no surprise that BLACKPINK once again claims yet another important accolade, but this time it goes beyond the boundaries of the K-pop entertainment industry.
With that being said, YG Entertainment's BLACKPINK has been chosen by Variety, an American online magazine, as one of the most influential women in the world of entertainment.
This March 8, the world will commemorate International Women's Day. With this, Variety recently released a list of women who they believe have had a huge impact on the entertainment industry. But on a global scale, going beyond actors and singers and including producers, directors, and many more.
Variety's published article noted that BLACKPINK's success in 2020, regardless of the COVID-19 pandemic, "cements their superstardom" and amount of influence.
Moreover, Variety gave praise to BLACKPINK with regards to their recent accolades, which includes the K-pop group's first-ever full-length album, "The Album." BLACKPINK's album topped iTunes in 57 countries around the world. Beyond that, BLACKPINK's successful documentary and online concert were also praised.
More specifically, the published piece also pointed out the gigantic success of BLACKPINK's music video, "How You Like That," which garnered a number of records under YouTube. One of which gained 86 million views within the first day of its upload.
BLACKPINK is listed as one of 54 talented and extraordinary women, which included Kim Eun-hee, a celebrated South Korean Writer, U.K. actor Cate Blanchett, and many more.
