SHINee's Taemin Admits He Still Often Think About Bandmate Jonghyun; Opens Up About Promoting Without The Late Singer
SHINee member Taemin has talked about the late bandmate Jonghyun ahead of the release of his second mini album, Want. Taemin confessed that he still often feel the emptiness whenever he thought of Jonghyun.
SHINee and their fans previously commemorated Jonghyun's death on December 18, 2017. The singer died of apparent suicide at the height of the band's success.
Taemin said Jonghyun very often crosses their mind. However, unlike before that they feel depressed about it, he is now reflecting and healing whenever he thought of the late bandmate.
"I'm okay most of the time but still, it comes to my mind from time to time," Koreaboo quoted the SHINee maknae as saying.
Taemin also talked about promoting without Jonghyun. SHINee made a comeback on May 2018, five months after Jonghyun's death. Taemin said the group members have decided to continue with their promotions and to do their best with hopes that fans would treat them the same way they have treated SHINee before Jonghyun's passed away.
He added that during the process of making their three-part Korean album last year, they often think about Jonghyun. This makes them decide to show in their album how they feel about the tragic incident rather than hide it.
Taemin also talked about SHINee promoting as a group again. The group currently has three active members. Onew has started his military service in December 2018 and Key and Minho are expected to enlist next month. Taemin said they will begin promotions as a group again once everyone is released from their military service.
Taemin will be the last one to enlist from the group since he is the youngest of all. He is currently 25 years old.
The K-pop idol still has couple more years before he enlists, most likely his bandmates are already discharged from military service before he starts his enlistment. This means he can still promote with the rest of the SHINee member before he starts his military service.
Meanwhile, Taemin will drop his Want album along with its lead track of the same title on February 11. He is set to promote his new EP on JTBC's Idol Room on February 12. The SHINee member will appear in the show along with NCT members Jisung and Jeno, SF9's Chani, and Kim Dong Han.
Jisung, Jeno, Chani, and Dong Han previously mentioned that Taemin is their role model. Taemin's episode of Idol Room will air on February 12 at 6:30 p.m. KST.
