Levi will be playing a major role in Attack on Titan Season 3. After the anime series' first official trailer had been released, it looks like the squad captain and Kenny's fight teases something big is about to happen.

In an interview with Attack on Titan Season 3's directors Araki Tetsuro and Koizuka Masashi on Animage's June 2018 issue, the two talked about the intriguing fight between Levi and Kenny. Koizuka revealed that the teaser showed Levi's "emotional ties" with Kenny as he seemed to release every ounce of his emotion that they "had yet to portray." Araki even added that the squad captain's "absolute fury" will be one of the major highlights of the upcoming season.

According to Comicbook, the fights in Attack on Titan Season 3 will be as intense as what they showed in the trailer. Koizuka even puts some hype in the "human vs. human battles" that will place Levi at the center of it. To recall, in the beginning, Levi played a major role in the clashes between the Titans. This even made them believe that the encounters happening between the humans would be less intense. However, when the new installment's production started, Levi has a lot of action fights to do.

With that, the "human vs. human conflict" will also be an integral part of Attack on Titan Season 3. "I think the action scenes alone will already give everyone a full taste of this new flavor to SnK," Koizuka teased. He even asked everyone to "please anticipate this series."

Meanwhile, talking about Levi's leading role in Attack on Titan Season 3, the anime series' animation producer, Nakatake Tetsuya told Animedia that the squad captain is now at the "protagonist level." In fact, he is now shaping up to be the new installment's main character. "In terms of the story especially, he's at the center of all the characters," he said. So, Levi will certainly be in the middle of the new season's big conflict.

Although Eren Jaeger and Krista/Historia are known to be Attack on Titan Season 3's main lead characters, Levi will definitely be stealing major scenes from the Survey Corps soldiers. The new season will be released on July 22 on NHK in Japan with 24 episodes.
