‘Metal Gear Online’ Global Championship Launches Next Month; Game Gets Cat Hats!

The "Metal Gear Online" global championship will be launched next month, according to PC Gamer.

"Metal Gear Online" is the multiplayer side of "Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain" which lets players pit against other players from around the world. The multiplayer version of the game was launched a few months after the main game was launched. So far, several DLCs and updates were added to the game for stability and variation.

Konami, the game publisher, is now collaborating with the Electronic Sports League, an eSports group, to provide fans of the online multiplayer version of "Metal Gear Solid V" to utilize their competitive online skills to get some cash, according to Cinema Blend.

In addition, From Dec. 2015 to Feb. 2016, Konami and ESL will be hosting monthly tournaments in different regions such as Southeast Asia, North America, Australia, Latin America and Europe. The players who will manage to put their names into the winner's bracket at the end of each month will be rewarded with $1,000.

This online tournament will be launched first for the consoles since the multiplayer version was first launched there. The PC version has not launched yet so it will have to wait, according to Realty Today.

Furthermore, the latest update of the game will be seeing some additions. The latest update makes the online game into version 1.01. The update gives changes to the class and weapon balance adjustments. There are also some changes to certain weapon requirements, according to VG247.

In addition, the update also gave the addition of wearable cats. A player can wear a cat as a hat in the game while fighting other players. Konami did not mention any tactical advantage of it so it seems it is just a cosmetic effect.
