North Korea Conducts Ballistic Missile Test
According to North Korea state media KCNA, the Hwasong-12 rocket launched on Sunday to test the 'capability of carrying nuclear warhead'. According to KCNA, the missile test that took place northwest of Pyongyang was a success and was even supervised by a satisfied Kim Jong Un.
The North Korean leader claimed, "The U.S. massively brought nuclear strategic assets to the vicinity of the Korean peninsula to threaten and blackmail the DPRK, but the coward American-style fanfaronade militarily browbeating only weak countries and nations which have no nukes can never work on the DPRK and is highly ridiculous. The perfect weapon systems in the world will never become the eternal exclusive property of the U.S." Kim Jong Un added, "If the U.S. awkwardly attempts to provoke the DPRK, it will not escape from the biggest disaster in the history."
KCNA further added that the simulated missile launch was conducted at the highest possible angle so as not to threaten the security of neighboring countries. The missile flew 787 kilometers (490 miles) and reached an altitude of 2,111.5 kilometers (1,312 miles). It then landed in a sea near Russia. North Korea has been developing an intercontinental ballistic missile that's said to be capable of carrying a nuclear warhead and reaching as far as the United States.
The North Korean media stated, "The test-fire aimed at verifying the tactical and technological specifications of the newly developed ballistic rocket capable of carrying a large-size heavy nuclear warhead."
The missile test was launched just days after South Korea elected their new president, according to the U.S. ambassador to the U.N. Washington has been saying that the missile test on Sunday was a clear message from North Korea to the South. The U.S. is now convinced that the communist nation has been calibrating and greasing up its military power due to growing paranoia.
