Singer-actress IU proved she hasn't forgotten her alma mater when she donated 10 million KRW at Dongduk's Women's High School. The amount, approximately 8,600 in USD, would be channeled to the school's scholarship fund and doled out to at least four of their students.

According to Soompi, the alma mater posted Tuesday on an online forum a photo of their pamphlet guide for the students where the 23-year-old celebrity's name appeared to be listed as among the students' available scholarships. The said fund, divided into 5 million KRW or approximately 4,400 USD each for the five students, would shoulder their admission and tuition fees for the first semester.

The reports that IU reportedly started making the donation to her alma mater two years ago in an annual basis earned her praises from netizens. This also proves that she's only deserving of the title Korea's "little sister." "It's so nice that she takes care of her juniors," said a netizen.

The "Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo" actress also uplifted the lives of many poor children when she reportedly donated to the Green Umbrella Children's Foundation in 2015. An official from the foundation confirmed the reports and said that she volunteered her time for the handicapped kids and made the donation on Children's Day when children are supposed to receive gifts.

"But since low-income family kids might have to spend it in a lonely way, IU has donated 100 million won ($92,400~ USD)," the foundation's representative told Star News, according to Koreaboo.

Aside from IU, Hallyu stars Lee Min Ho, Park Shin Hye and Song Hye Kyo also use their celebrity status to make the world a better place. "The Legend of the Blue Sea" actor Lee Min Ho donated to victims of domestic violence through his donation platform PROMIZ. His "Heirs" co-star Park Shin Hye warmed up victims of the Seomun Market fire when she donated 50 million KRW. "Descendants of the Sun" actress Song Hye Kyo donates from her personal wealth and even does volunteer work.
