South Korea And Iran Photo Exhibition Opens This Week

The South Korea and Iran photo exhibition will showcase the relationship and cultural ties between the two countries will open in Seoul this week.

According to the organizers, the photo exhibition will be co-hosted by  Yonhap News Agency which is one of the leading newswire in South Korea together with Iran's State Run News Agency (IRNA).

On Wednesday, September 28, the National Museum of Korean Contemporary History will launch its opening ceremony with some representatives from Iran and South Korea.

A total of 140 photos and more will be displayed at the museum until October 23. The photos that will be displayed will portray and illustrate the developing ties and relationship between South Korea and Iran.

Some experts compared the cultural ties between South Korea and Iran into an Iranian folk tale. The folk tale is about an ancient prince of Persia who married a South Korean princess from the Shilla Dynasty way back 1,300 years ago. The saud folk tale demonstrates and narrates how the ties of the two countries expanded.

In 1962, the diplomatic ties between Iran and South Korea started. Some if the photos that will be displayed during the exhibit are photos that show the relics from Shilla Dynasty which are believed to have influences from the Persian culture, traditional cultures of South Korea  and Iran, and their influences in tge field of business, culture, politics and sports.

Moreover, because of the popularity of the so-called "Hallyu," Korean wave or the K-pop culture craze around the world, there will be an  added feature in the exhibit. The popular South Korean dramas like "Jumong" and "Daejanggeum," already have a huge fan base in Iran.

In the opening ceremony of the photo exhibition, Hassan Taherian, the Iranian Ambassador in Seoul, will give the award plaques of appreciation to the lead actors of the South Korean drama "Jumong" including Han Hye-jin and Song Il-gook. The awards that will be given to the lead actors are tokens of recognition for their contributions in the development of bilateral ties between the two countries.

Last May 2016, the two news agencies namely Yonhap News Agency in South Korea and IRNA in Iran already held a meeting at Tehran, Iran after the South Korean President Patk Geun-hye visited the state of the Middle Eastern nation. The photo exhibition is the result of the meeting conducted by the two agencies from both countries.

Furthermore, IRNA and Yonhap are scheduled to open another photo exhibition in Tehran, Iran on Tuesday, September 27.

Many netizens are expected to participate in the photo exhibition that will be held in Seoul on Wednesday in order to show support for the closer ties between South Korea and Iran.
