K-pop girl group Red Velvet have pushed the release date of the new EP "The Velvet" back one day to March 17.

Oh, what a difference a day makes.

Fans who spent last night anxiously awaiting the midnight Korea Standard Time release of "The Velvet" the second EP by K-pop girl group Red Velvet were in for a rude shock.

Six minutes before midnight, the group's record label SM Entertainment sent out a hasty tweet telling K-poppers to hold their horses.

"Red Velvet's 'The Velvet' album and music video release will unfortunately be postponed until one day later, March 17, in order to achieve a higher degree of perfection," the 11th hour tweet from SM Entertainment read.

"We ask for your understanding."

It may just be a one day delay, but a Red Velvet superfan commenting on the Korean entertainment website Soompi as KawaiiestPunkFemale was in anguish.

"Wahhh! I seriously stayed up all night for this," she wrote. "I'm even late to school."

Reader Mung Bean was quick to pile on.

"And to think SM was doing so well so far this year," he wrote.

While Soompi reader V.I.P is relieved.

"Oh! It's only delayed for one day which is ok for me," she wrote. "I thought it would be delayed for a week or more when I read the title I'll be waiting for your comeback Red Velvet!"

Earlier this month, SM Entertainment confirmed the tracklisting for "The Velvet," which includes five original songs and three remixes of the opening track "One Of These Nights." The music video for the song is slated for release on Thursday as well, barring no further delays.
