'24: Legacy' Cast Revealed! Miranda Otto And Eric Carter To Star Sans Keifer Sutherland In The 2016 Series Reboot
It's been years since we saw Jack Bauer (Keifer Sutherland) save America from all sorts of terror threats in the hit limited series, "24."
Admittedly, fans will miss the original hero of CTU but now it's time for new cast members to be the hero in the series reboot, "24: Legacy."
Executives of "24: Legacy" have reportedly cast the actors to play the lead roles in the 2016 reboot.
According to Variety, Core Hawkins ("Straight Outta Compton") has been cast as Eric Carter, a US military hero who returns to the US after being designated abroad, only to find that trouble has followed him home, which prompts him to seek the help of the Counter Terrorist Unit (CTU).
Meanwhile, Miranda Otto ("Lord of the Rings," "Homeland") is set to play the role of Rebecca Ingram, an ultra-smart former head of CTU.
"Now married to Sen. John Donovan (not yet cast), she struggles with second thoughts about having left the counter-terrorism agency," The Hollywood Reporter said.
According to Entertainment Weekly, Otto was the first casting choice for the role of Rebecca Ingram.
"Otto was likely the producers' first choice to play the role of Ingram, who was originally described in the casting notice as "a Miranda Otto-type," the website reported.
Meanwhile, despite confirming that he will not appear in "24: Legacy" as Jack Bauer, Keifer Sutherland is rumored to be taking on another role in the series reboot later in 2016.
"Some speculate that the actor might be 'creatively involved' somehow in the series reboot," Korea Portal reported.
Last year, Keifer Sutherland shared his opinion of a possible "24" reboot and whether or not he would reprise his role as Jack Bauer.
"'24' is definitely over now for me," Sutherland told BBC. "It's one of the greatest gifts I've ever been given as an actor, but it's moving on without me, I want to do other things."
