24' Reboot For 2016 Confirmed; New Cast Members To Take Lead? Jack Bauer Not Included!
A "24" reboot has allegedly been confirmed for 2016, and will reportedly be pushed through by Fox Network but without its hero, Jack Bauer.
According to reports, Fox has officially approved the remake of the TV favorite, this time without actor Keifer Sutherland, who played the role of Counter Terrorist Unit (CTU) agent, Jack Bauer, in its past 10 seasons.
Instead of Jack Bauer, a new "military hero" will be the focus of the upcoming series. The said protagonist will be Eric Carter, an African American soldier in his 20s, who returns to the US only to find that the troubles he left abroad has followed him home. Meanwhile, the female lead in the said series remake will be a former head of CTU.
"In asking the CTU to help solve his own problem, he in turn aids them in stopping a large-scale terrorist assault on the US," Empire Online reported. "The show's big hook, with each episode representing an hour of a single day, will, of course, remain in place."
Back in September 2015, Keifer Sutherland shut down rumors of his appearance in the reboot for "24" set to happen this 2016.
"24 is definitely over now for me," Sutherland told BBC. "It's one of the greatest gifts I've ever been given as an actor, but it's moving on without me, I want to do other things."
"I want to do more television," the actor added. "My experience of 24 was unbelievable, but the main benefit was that it was nice to do something that people actually watched, and that they enjoyed."
Although Keifer Sutherland will not appear as Jack Bauer in the series, some speculate that the actor might be "creatively involved" somehow in the series reboot.
In addition, old-timers Manny Koto, Howard Gordon and Evan Katz will still reportedly be working in the reboot's production. Moreso, director Stephen Hopkins, who directed the original "24" pilots, had also signed up for the upcoming show this 2016.
