Motorola has released Android 6.0 Marshmallow update to some of its range of smartphone devices.

Initially announced for Moto G 2nd generation models, now it is likely that the 3rd generation Moto Gs are also going to be receiving the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update in the coming weeks.

"Here is something new and amazing for your Moto G (3rd Gen.), the Android 6.0 Marshmallow!" announced Motorola India on Twitter, according to FirstPost. However, the exact release date wasn't mentioned in the statement.

With Motorola's Moto X Pure edition, 2015 and Moto X-Force and Moto G 2 phones already been updated, the 3rd gen Moto G lines up.

Accordingly, both the second, as well as the third generation Moto G phones, will be upgraded from Android 5.1.1 Lollipop to Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

Users of these devices will be notified by default on the availability of the upgrade, however, users can manually check for it under the System update option under the Settings menu.

The android 6.0 soak test for Motorola devices is likely to carry 400 MB while the official build could be more than 1 GB. This means that the testing version would include unstable apps and systems and is not probably the final version.

The OS update will come into the devices soon with a lot of optimizations and improvements from the predecessor software including performance, software, battery life, UI, mobile payments and other additional features provided by mobile carriers.

The update would be rolling out initially for users from Canada and US(only for devices purchased unlocked and SIM-Free), after which it will roll out for Indian devices a week later.

The update is likely to weigh 2GB as it carries the software version of 24.11.25.en.US.

It incorporates Google's security patches created up to December 1, 2015, and has everything that's new in android 6.0- Now on tap feature and the revamped permission systems. And might be excluding Motorola Migrate and Assist apps in this version, according to GSMArena.

However, this update will happen very gradually and it will certainly take some time until it hits all the above mentioned Moto G devices.
