But one thing has been making IU relatively sad; not being able to interact with fans. Thus, when IU finally met fans in person after a long time, the successful soloist could not help but shed tears as she missed her UAENAs so much.

On the 4th of December, the yearly awards ceremony of Melon, known as the Melon Music Awards (aka the 2021 MMAs), took place, and among the artists who were there was IU.

During the 2021 MMAs, IU was able to take home five awards; "The Best Female Soloist", "Songwriter Special", "TOP10", "The Album of the Year," and "The Artist of the Year." As she came up to get her awards, IU shared, "It's still hard to see fans, but it's now becoming a little more possible to see them now."

IU added that she believes that the day that she and her fans can once again enjoy live events will come very soon. In the meantime, she hopes to see all of her fans next year while being healthy.

After the 2021 MMAs, IU was able to briefly greet her fans who were outside the venue as she was leaving in her van. The soloist and her fans were able to have brief exchanges before IU finally left the premises.

But it was later evident that as IU greeted her fans, she could not help but shed tears. As she passed by her fans, IU emotionally asked UAENAs, "I'm really happy to see you. How have you been?"

Some of IU's fans were able to respond by saying that they have been okay, and they even congratulated their favorite artist for taking home multiple awards at the 2021 MMAs.

Emotionally, IU gave her thanks and waved to her fans goodbye.
