To The Dismay Of Netizens & ARMYS, BTS Confirmed To Miss The 2021 MAMAs!
The 2021 Mnet Asian Music Awards (aka the 2021 MAMAs) is a major music awards ceremony where all the biggest names in the Korean music industry gather to perform and get awards in their respective categories.

Thus, fandoms from almost all K-pop artists will surely tune in to see their favorite K-pop idols in the awards show. But it seems as though one of the biggest names in K-pop will not be present in the 2021 MAMAs.
To the sadness of fans and ARMYs, BTS will not be attending the 2021 Mnet Asian Music Awards due to South Korea's new mandatory quarantine rules.
At present, the members of BTS are in the United States and have been in the country since the 17th of November for their international promotions and their "Permission to Dance" concerts. Furthermore, BTS will appear at the "Jingle Ball Tour" on the 3rd of December in Los Angeles.

But recently, the South Korean government has announced that, regardless of residential status and vaccination status, all people that are arriving from overseas flights have to undergo a mandatory 10-day quarantine due to the rise of the new COVID-19 variant, Omicron.
Since BTS will be performing at the Jingle Ball Tour on the 3rd of December, the earliest date that they would be arriving in South Korea would be on the 4th of December. Due to the 10-day quarantine, the earliest date that BTS would be released from quarantine is on the 14th of December.
Notably, 2021 MAMA will occur on the 11th of December, and this makes it impossible for BTS to attend the 2021 MAMAs as they will still be in quarantine at the time.
As of writing this article, Mnet has yet to officially release its stand on the status of BTS for the 2021 MAMAs.
